Book Zone

I have to admit if you are looking for a mindless paperback to spend a few pleasant hours while travelling from point A to B this is not the shop for you.

book zone chiang mai

Sure, they have three to four rows of shelves of the most popular mainstream authors, but their real strength are books on Thailand and everything Thai - culture, architecture, designs, cuisine, coffee, language, flora and fauna, wats, ruins, anything you can think of – I bet it will be there.

There are also plenty of travellers’ guides to other Asian countries (Cambodia, Burma, Laos, Vietnam, etc.), and books and CDs on learning Thai language. I’ve noticed quite a selection of books on life in Thailand in general and on Thai politics specifically. They also have very artistic cards and postcards.

This shop is a delight if you’re looking for a book to impress or to give to the folks as a souvenir when you are back from long months (or two weeks) of hardcore travelling around Asia.

I don’t know if the guy behind the counter was speaking English as he kept stony silence while I was browsing the shop despite my smiles. Hopefully, he was just having a bad day, and will be most helpful when you get there.
