Sop Moei Arts - Karen art - handicrafts

Sop Moei Arts is a Pwo Karen  project that creates some of the finest handicraft to be found in Northern Thailand. It was started to create income for Karen families to help the chronic problem of  Malnutrition in the villages.

The Pwo karen unlike most other Karen prefer to live in remote highlands remain largely animist, often incorporating aspects of Thai Buddhism as they see fit. Their traditional weaving and other skills have been utilized to create truly beautiful designs that have be evolved into modern styles and functionality.

Sop Moei Arts main showroom is their shop in Chiang Mai, where  such items as large baskets, cushions and wall-hangings can be acquired.



Most of  the staff speak excellent English and will be able to assist you in any way you may require.
