There are numours smaller bike rental places all over the city mostly renting 100cc-125cc motorbike. the easiest way is to walk down the street like Moon Muang and check out the bikes and prices. They are cheap and realible wat to get around the city and surrounding area. A license is in theory required but for sure they will want to keep your passport as a deposit is normal policy . So be sure to make a photocopy of it and keep it with you at all times.
It is hard to sometimes find things so we recommend The Book of What that has maps and a directory of most buinesses in Chiang Mai.
