Street dogs are probably the most upsetting sight in Thailand. Whether your an experienced traveler to Asia or not. When one first arrives in Chiang mai, one sees so many street dogs, most all are in terrible condition and one can not help but feel really bad and frustrated or even angry at not able to help them.
Health conditions for many of these dogs living on the streets and in temples can cause the dog to die a long an painful death from viral or parasitic infections, they are sure to deteriorate if not assisted by humans using appropriate medications and care.. Karin Hawelka and Amandine Lecesne are two women who are truly committed to help these poor animals. They Started ‘Care for Dogs’ in Chiang Mai. Their aim is to reduce strays and improve the life of street and temple dogs by organizing sterilizations, vaccinations, and medical care. They also take care of approximately 80 homeless dogs at any time until they find a new loving home for them. They place now about 200 dogs a year. So if you can provide a good home for a dog or cat conact them.
